Highcliffe House, originally built in the 1870's as a gentlemans summer residence is now a beautifully restored guest house standing in its own grounds circa 550ft above sea level, surmounting the twin villages of Lynton and Lynmouth. It commands stunning views of the Exmoor hills and coastline, Lynmouth Bay and across the Bristol Channel to South Wales. Highcliffe House is secluded yet only a few minutes walk from Lynton and the famous Cliff Railway. Many lovely walks start from our front door!

The Guest House is situated within Exmoor National Park which has a character all its own and was dubbed 'Little Switzerland' by the Victorians. To the West lies the remarkable Valley of the Rocks with its own colony of wild goats and to the East the Doone Valley immortalised in Blackmores novel Lorna Doone and the renowned beauty spot Watersmeet.

There are a variety of golf courses throughout the North Devon area, from the wonderful links courses on the coast including a championship course and the oldest links in England to parkland clubs set in the stunning Devon landscapes of Tarka Coutry. At the nearby town of Barnstaple there are modern shopping malls as well as traditional High Street retailers together with the Victorian Pannier Market.

Highcliffe is run by resident owners Michael and Karen Orchard and guests are ensured a warm and friendly welcome with the ambience of a private house. There are six spacious and individually designed en suite bedrooms, which enjoy the panoramic sea and coastal views. They are equipped with fine furnishings, central heating, colour TVs, clock radios, hairdryers, beverage making facilities and a welcoming sherry decanter as well as other thoughtful extras.

There are two comfortable guest lounges, one with lovely view and a candlelit conservatory restaurant, again with stunning views, where our delicous meals are served together with fine wines from around the world. We also have our own private car park in the grounds.

In short, we believe that Highcliffe House in unspoilt Exmoor National Park is the ideal place to escape to for a peaceful and relaxing break.
