A warm welcome awaits you at Higher Bodley, the working hill farm in the foothills of Coastal Exmoor just a breath away from the beautiful Heddon Valley and the Lynton and Barnstaple steam railway. Close by in Lynton is the picturesque “Valley of the Rocks”, the timeless Lynmouth harbour made famous by the tragic Lynmouth Flood Disaster in 1952.


The fabulous scenic Doone Valley, home to the romantic tale of Lorna Doone written by R.D. Blackmore is also within easy reach across Brendon Hills. Dogs, muddy boots and wet clothes welcome.
 
Higher Bodley is close to the local bus routes from Barnstaple and Taunton for those who wish to leave the car at home, we are happy to collect from local bus stops. If you require further information on local transport please give us a call.

Packed lunches and flask top-ups are readily available, for longer walks and rides a transfer service can be provided. If you are arriving late a supper tray of lovely homemade soupand homemade bread can be provided or an evening meal if requested.

Nothing is to much trouble to make your stray at Higher Bodley, as enjoyable and memorable as possible.

Rooms
Our lavish bedrooms include a kingsize four-poster with en-suite shower room with own adjoining lounge area with boasts far reaching views of the farm and Exmoor, or the king size double with private bathroom. All rooms are equipped with colour TV/DVD, clock radio, hair dryer, tea and coffee making facilities and bottled water. The bathrooms have shaver points. Iron and ironing board can be made available on request.

Breakfast is a relaxed affair served in the beamed breakfast room with the warmth of the wood fired Rayburn and seating at the large farmhouse table. On the buffet table you will find a selection of cereals, museli, fruit juices, prunes, grapefruit, yoghurt both flavoured and natural. To follow a traditional English breakfast, smoked salmon or the vegetarian option.

Homemade fresh brown bread and white toast will accompany your delicious breakfast, with lashings of home produced marmalade and jam or local honey. All washed down with a variety of teas or coffee to your taste. Where possible we use local, homemade fair trade or organic produce. Any special dietary requirment can be catered for with prior notice.   Dogs welcome. Wireless internet access available

The Farm
Higher Bodley is the perfect place to relax and unwind, if you are an enthusiastic walker, cyclist or horse rider or just discerning wildlife and nature lover. Higher Bodley has it all with easy walks direct from the farm or longer walks over Exmoor or on the coast path, which take in some of the breath taking views of the rugged Exmoor coast and the far reaching views across the Bristol Channel to Wales.

For the cyclist there are numbered rides and lots of rough moorland tracks for the more Adventurous.
Horse riding also plays a major part of Exmoor life, with fabulous riding on the moors, if you wish to bring your own horse we have super stabling and can provide straw and homegrown haylage. There are many bridle paths direct from the farm, and happy to provide directions for longer day rides. Our own horses are kept on the premises.
