The Puffing Billy is located in the village of Exton just on the east side of the Exe estuary a mere 15 minutes from Exeter and Exmouth. We are a modern British bar/restaurant that serves traditional English food with a twist and has an excellent wine list that has been tasted and chosen by us personally!    We pride ourselves on a very high standard of service to accompany a delicious meal.

You will be met with a greeting that is warm and inviting and everything that you would expect from a classic English pub.

We recommend that you do book well in advance, especially at weekends or at peak holiday times as we have developed a reputation as one of the most popular places to eat around Exeter.

The Bar

The stylish bar at The Puffing Billy was redeveloped around 3 years ago and now serves a range of real ales from local Breweries such as Otter, O'Hanlons and Teignworthy. We have introduced the more contemporary lagers, Peroni and the new Kozel on draught and are very proud of a wide range of wines from across the world with over 25 of them by the glass.

We also have monthly wine specials. The aim of these specials is to get you drinking some wines form regions around the world which are not as well known or grape varieties you may have never even heard about, did you know that there are over 5000 grape varieties to make wine!

Although a large part of our business is based around our delicious food, we very much welcome customers who wish to pop in and have a drink or a coffee and sit on the comfortable chairs in our separate bar area. We also have a secluded garden and outside tables at the front of the Pub for relaxing in the sunshine with views of the Exe estuary.

The Restaurant

Sean Mcbride, our Head Chef has been instrumental in continuing the Modern British food style at The Puffing Billy that has become so popular over the last 5 years. We source as much of our food as possible from the local area with our Beef and Venison from Dartmoor and much of our fresh fish coming from the Exe Estuary and Devon Coast.
