The Arundell Arms
People come to the Arundell Arms to fish and shoot and go riding, to walk, play golf, go bird watching, and to enjoy some of the loveliest country in England. The hotel, an old coaching inn on a site which dates back to Saxon times, is in a valley of five rivers, close to the uplands of Dartmoor. Not far away are the wonderful surfing beaches of the north Cornish coast, the ruins of Tintagel Castle, and the ancient fishing villages of Boscastle and Port Isaac where you can hire boats or pick your own fresh lobsters from their cages in the fish market.
Dining We are proud, not only of the personal attention and consideration you will receive from everyone at the hotel from the moment you arrive, but of the cooking, which we believe is among the best in England. Our Head Chef Steven Pidgeon has the rare honour of being elected a Master Chef of Great Britain, two of only 80 in the country and our restaurant has been awarded top accolades by all the leading guides including the Good Food Guide. Our other star in the kitchen is our sous chef, Matthew Worsfold. Almost all the produce we use is from local suppliers.
Accommodation All twenty-one bedrooms are individually designed and have the comfort and amenities of an English country hotel. Many overlook the terraced garden. We were delighted to win the César Award from the Good Hotel Guide as ‘Sporting Hotel of the Year’ and to have been featured in the book ‘1000 Places to See Before You Die’ by American writer Patricia Schwultz (alongside ‘Tea at the Ritz’). Situated on the Devon/Cornwall border, reached by fast motorways from all directions and with on site parking for 70 cars, the Arundell Arms at Lifton is the ideal venue for West Country meetings and conferences.
Conferences Not only do we have large comfortable meeting rooms but, as a privately owned hotel, you will have the personal attention of a courteous and caring staff, with the professionalism vital to ensure the day runs smoothly.
In addition, we have an award winning restaurant and a chef with an international reputation. For off-duty activities there is fishing on the hotel's 20 miles of private salmon and trout rivers and a lake with golf, clay pigeon shooting and riding nearby. |
