The Rooms

Absolute comfort and contemporary seaside chic. sea facing, en-suite rooms with a fresh and light barefoot beach ambience. Italian bed linen, bespoke fabrics and all the elements expected of a boutique bolt hole. Sunbathe on a private terrace overhanging the crystal waters then dine al fresco in the terraced gardens that tumble down to the beach.

With plenty of coastal character and echoes of New England, international designer Kathleen Fraser has captured the flavour of effortless seaside living. Traditional striped ticking whispers memories of days by the seashore and elegant furniture, spacious bathrooms filled with Temple Spa goodies give a taste of the detail and comfort you can expect. You really can’t imagine the sunrises until you get here. Never more than a window away from a fabulous view of the bay, a few days here, even just a night, and you’ll feel good all over.

Each of the 8 rooms provides guests with Luxury 5 Star accommodation and a terrace balcony, crisp bed linen and magnificent views. A turndown service is offered every evening.

The Bar

Beamed ceilings, original stone walls, planked floors, books and boardgames. The informal mood is achieved with effortless style. Sympathetic to its proud heritage, the welcoming interior combines clean lines with a neutral coastal palette. Prop up the bar for as long as you like. Bring your dog along after a long coastal walk. Bracing sea air, grown up adventures, fishing from the pier. Your appetite will sharpen itself. Inside, big windows show off views across the bay. Portland Bill, fifty miles away, is visible on clear days. A crackling log fire and the lure of a proper pint make it feel special and secluded here. Otter Ale and Bays Gold are just two of the highlights. Unpretentious friendly service sets the tone. Sit and watch the sun sink.

The Food

Gastro pub food cooked simply. The watchwords in the kitchen are freshness and seasonality, underpinned by a deep rooted respect for the surrounding waters and pastures. Daily changing menus reflect coast and country in equal measure. Expect superb Devon beef, Lyme Bay lobster and line caught seafood.

Hungry walkers, families, friends and travelling foodies - this is a place where even a pint of prawns is done with panache. Dine outdoors in the warmer months and watch life in the bay unfold. There is a communal BBQ to cook a choice of local sausages just the way you like them and a fabulous outdoor pizza oven. In cooler weather, choose something comforting and slowly cooked from the daily changing blackboard.

Cottages

For more independence choose from one, two or four bedroom cottages. All are sea facing with their own outdoor dining terrace. The theme from the Inn has been carried through to reflect fresh, chic and contemporary seaside living. Impressive sitting rooms boast fabulous sea views and the well equipped bathrooms come complete with Temple Spa goodies.  All cottages have fitted kitchen areas.

The cottages feature all the facilities you would expect of a 5 Star property including 32" flat screen, DVD & CD playing TV, books, games and DVD's. All towels and linen are provided and towels are changed mid-week for your comfort. You will be welcomed with a luxury hamper of cereals, bread, milk, jam and butter to help you settle in your fully fitted kitchen. As a cottage resident, you are welcome to enjoy the private resident's facilities at The Cary Arms, which includes a resident's saloon, private terrace and 'Pod' (a glass and teak sphere for private dining for up to 6 people). All the luxuries of the hotel, with the freedom to come and go as you please.
